Dinky Toys 417 Leyland Comet Wagon

Supplied from my own collection. This version of the Leyland Comet Wagon is finished in a Violet blue cab with deep yellow stake back and red ST hubs. There is a tow hook to the rear, a screw fitting to hold the platform to the chassis which in turns holds and supports a spare tyre below. Grey Supertoy tyres all around. Fully light tested and original. It comes in a bright yellow 417 lift off box.

Working mechanical motor, clear glazing and early silver flat spun hubs. Fine treaded tyres  on a darker grey base. It comes in a correct blue and yellow 216M box. Light tested and totally original.

So much harder to find nice single colours compared to the later two tone colour Rovers. It comes in a correct 156 box with maroon end spot each end. Light tested and original.

Dinky Toys 038E Armstrong Siddeley Tourer Prototype

Made available from my personal collection. Article on this model and similar Alvis model due in March 2024. Here is a rare Proto-Type of the Armstrong Siddeley tourer, finished in mid green with a matching interior and a grey dashboard. There is no steering wheel and no hole made to receive. A very nice flat silver edged windscreen in place. It has black ridged hubs and black smooth tyres with no flats and shiny axles. Full silvering with blacked in front and rear number plates. The early brown base plate is loose with both rivet pillars in place but not fitted to base. Totally original and no added touch-ins.

Dinky Toys 038D Alvis Tourer Early Pre-War Prototype

Made available from my personal collection. Article on this model and similar Armstrong Siddeley model due in March 2024. Here is a rare Proto-Type of the Alvis Tourer, finished in violet blue (similar to early Frazer Nash) with a brown interior, black smooth hubs and black original  smooth tyres. There is no steering wheel though a tiny whole to receive one. The windscreen is present with a good spray of the original paint and the base plate is also the same violet blue. The back toneau is grey behind the seating. Fully silvered radiator and headlamps and side lights. The base is loose and not riveted. Some distortion to each tyre. There are minor cracks at the back of car from back seat upright to back rear edge with light fatigue. Totally original with no added touch-ins.

It has a black gloss un-numbered base plate with silver spun shaped hubs and black grip 'M' tyres. Complete with a grey aerial and working suspension. 'Police' signs to each front door and transfer to the bonnet and boot. Light tested and no touch-ins.

The story behind these two Dinky Prototypes of the 38 series.

After collecting for 15 years and therefore in the prime of my own collecting, Christies Auctions in London announced a series of three auctions to cover the ‘Remy Meeus’ collection. The first was held on 24 September 2001. The second on the 19 December 2001 and finally 28 June 2002.

Though my knowledge may not account as well as others I believe Jean Vital-Remy was a Belgian stockbroker who built a vast collection of Dinky related models including Dinky, French Dinky, South African issues and the scarce but crude Indian Nicky toys.

Supplied from the 'Classic' collection. A Diecast Rarity. A very attractive model which was produced in very limited numbers in Orange with a black interior and spoke cast hubs. Beautiful model It has opening doors and tail gate, with retracting front seats and jewelled headlamps. Light tested and original.
